Cosmic Tea · How We Read the Sky

NO BLACK BOXES.
CHECK OUR MATH.

Every reading starts from real, computed astronomy. Here's exactly what we calculate, and how to verify it yourself.

01 · Real positions, computed

Your chart is calculated, never looked up.

Every chart is computed from standard high-precision astronomical algorithms: the same class of ephemeris math observatories and every serious chart tool rely on. Tropical zodiac, true ecliptic of date. Nothing is pulled from a pre-written sun-sign table, and nothing is "generated" by an AI guessing where Venus might be.

02 · Named, dated transits

When a guide names a transit, it's in the sky.

If a reading says Saturn is squaring your Venus, that aspect exists on that date, at a real orb, computed against your actual natal positions. Here's what the engine sees for a sample chart on July 27, 2026:

2026-07-27 · transiting Saturn 14°45′ Aries ℞ □ natal Venus 14°12′ Cancer orb 0°33′ — applying

The natal side belongs to a sample chart. The Saturn side is the real sky: look up Saturn on that date in any ephemeris and you'll find it at 14° Aries, freshly retrograde. The guide's job is the language. The sky's job is the facts. They never swap.

03 · House systems, plural

Whole Sign and Placidus. Your call.

Astrologers disagree about house systems, so we don't pretend otherwise. Cosmic Tea defaults to Whole Sign and lets you switch to Placidus in one tap; every chart and every reading follows your choice.

And the honest edge case: above the polar circles, Placidus breaks down mathematically. When it does, we fall back to Whole Sign rather than fabricate house cusps. We'd rather tell you that than invent geometry.

04 · Validated against the tools astrologers trust

Our numbers match the reference tools.

  • Placidus house cusps: match astro-seek to within 2 arcminutes.
  • Solar-return instants: within a few minutes of clock time of the reference calculation.
  • Moon phases & retrogrades: checked against NASA JPL Horizons data.
  • Black Moon Lilith (mean): tracks the Moon's real apogee passages with zero drift across a century of test dates.

Don't take our word for it. Cast your chart here, then open the chart tool you already trust and compare any placement.

05 · We never fabricate

No birth time? Then no rising sign. Period.

Without an exact birth time, your rising sign, houses, and solar return can't be computed honestly, so the app says "unknown" instead of guessing. No faked Ascendant, no invented house placements, no confident-sounding filler.

The rule lives in the code, and you can trigger it yourself: skip your birth time and watch what the app refuses to tell you.

06 · Eclipse seasons are computed, not scheduled

Seasonal content follows the actual sky.

Vela, our eclipse-season guide, appears when the real eclipse cluster arrives and leaves when it ends. Her season comes from the same ephemeris engine that computes your chart. No marketing calendar involved. When the app says "eclipse season," there is an eclipse.

07 · The technique ladder

Beyond sun signs: the techniques other apps skip.

Most astrology apps stop at your natal chart and daily transits. Cosmic Tea also computes:

If you already know these techniques, check our arithmetic. If you don't, the guides explain them in plain language. That's the point.

08 · Two zodiacs, honestly separate

Western and Chinese astrology, side by side.

Cosmic Tea treats the Western tropical zodiac and the Chinese zodiac as two distinct, co-equal frameworks. They're never mashed into one fake "compatibility score". Each keeps its own logic, and a guide will tell you when the two readings point different ways.

09 · What the AI does, and doesn't

The astronomy is math. The AI writes the language.

Here's the honest version of "AI astrology": the sky positions, aspects, houses, and cycles above are deterministic calculations. The AI's job is to phrase what was computed, in the voice of the guide you chose, with memory of your story.

The AI never invents a placement, an aspect, or a date. AI-written and made-up are different things, and the chain is checkable: sky → chart → named transit → sentence. Every claim in a reading traces back to a number you can verify on this page's terms.

And to be precise about scope: we compute the Sun through Pluto, the lunar nodes, mean Black Moon Lilith, the Ascendant and Midheaven, houses, aspects, and the cycles above. Bodies we don't compute yet (Chiron, the asteroids), the guides name as not-computed instead of improvising a position. Generic chatbots fail exactly here, inventing Moon signs and risings from thin air. Ours can't, because they never do the astronomy themselves.

REAL SKY. REAL MATH.
REAL TALK.

That's the whole method. The wonder lives in the conversation. The rigor sits underneath it.
